Signs of Hope

Bringing the Gospel to the deaf community in France

With more than 1.5 million deaf people in France, and an additional 4-5 million hearing impaired citizens, the need for specially adapted material to present the story of Jesus to this community is huge. In 2014 Agapé France launched an evangelistic website designed to appeal to deaf people.

The team in France has a long history of bringing the Good News of Christ to the deaf community, providing them with a clear presentation in writing rather than in a spoken format.

However, format is not the only difference, the deaf community also has its own unique culture. Agapé France partnered with the Association of Deaf Evangelicals  (Sourds Evangeliques)  in order to make a new Knowing God Personally site. The website offers the opportunity to interact with a trained e-coach who is ready to answer questions about faith. The  online portal offers a wide range of resources like the JESUS Film, a feature-length movie about the life of Jesus based on the Gospel of Luke. The site la-Bible-Info provides various Bible translations with study helps and links to post encouraging messages on social media are all available.

But how shall they ask him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them?

Romans 10:14 (The Living Bible)
