The football industry, idolizing footballers, fame and personal glory. As the European championships draw near, football is ever-present. But instead of focusing on money and personal promotion, is it possible to play a different kind of match that's centred on the game and not the individual? Can sports help people seek God and glorify Him?
In the next few weeks, footballers and their game will be in focus more than usual with the UEFA Euro; and the Olympic Games in Rio de Janiero will follow in August. This is an opportunity to talk about sport and life.
Many athletes know the saying “a healthy mind in a healthy body”, which shows the connection between physical and mental well-being. But is it only about exercise and clear thinking? Could there be another aspect to consider? What about the spiritual aspect, the realm beyond body and mind?
Agape France has produced a video series called “Holy Spirit, Holy Body”. The films feature interviews with Christian athletes – both amateurs and professionals – who share how their relationship with God transforms their lives and athletics on a daily basis.
